Synopsis

Near-infrared spectroscopy enables real-time, non-destructive monitoring across the entire pharmaceutical manufacturing chain. At intake, it identifies raw materials through container walls without sampling. During blending, inline probes continuously track blend uniformity and call the endpoint objectively, replacing invasive thief sampling.

At the tablet press feed frame — critical in continuous manufacturing — NIR detects API concentration before compression, enabling automatic diversion of out-of-spec material. In wet granulation, it simultaneously monitors moisture and granule growth to define the liquid addition endpoint.

During drying, it replaces manual LOD sampling by tracking residual moisture continuously inside the dryer. Across all steps, NIR supports the FDA PAT Framework, enabling Quality by Design and real-time release testing.
